ANY ENGLISH MAJOR; PLEASE COME assist me in my homework.BLES

Post by MenaceToSociety »

Ladies and Gentleman...This is my future wife's homework...She is crying over me because she got loads of homework tonight...So she asked me to help her with this POEM....... So what I need you to do is critique it....talk about the positive and negative thing about it....Here it is....

My Escape
Crossing the state line, I have counted every white dash to pass the time
The lines begin to blur together so I start over again
I give up but something in the distance catches my eye
I can’t help but notice the enormous green sign that brings me one step closer to my hometown
Topeka.

The security blanket starts to tightly enclose around me as the distance between me and home vanishes.
The familiar landmark of my high school sends my mind racing
What seemed to be such a huge place looks nothing more than a needle in a haystack now.
None of that matters to me though, this place is the best part of me, the only part of me that I get to keep to myself.

Another Ma and Pa shop is closed down.
Topeka doesn’t stand a chance with the mass market
I’a m not surprised with the changes but I have home to look forward to.
Home

My escape.

The president doesn’t even get a welcoming like this
Relatives by the hundreds eagerly wait for our arrival
Laughter you can hear for miles and love that oozes from every pore.
The only thing missing is the scent of coal and gasoline symbolizing the beginning of a feast.
The aroma itself makes my mouth salivate with anticipation
Chicken, steak, collard greens and homemade pie, I have to anxiously wait for this luxury.

The lawn has been freshly cut but stays hidden by the rows of lawn chairs scattered in no particular order.
Here we catch up on each others’ lives, you are bound to see a few tears or hear the deepest form of laughter imaginable.
I breathe in every single second I spend in Topeka like I need it to survive
Yet I know even when I leave this place again, counting all the white lines
I can always call it home.
