The costs of political entanglement with somalia which will not be stable for the next 10 to 20 years is far more than whatever oil money can be tossed our way.

and i believe monk was reffering to the potential oil off the coast of kismayo, we are happy with our gulf of aden reserves..
so thank you.

With all due respect its not the Gulf of Aden reserves that have the World in a tizzy right now. Rest assured if they were there the Ictiraaf would've came 15 years ago. It is for now the dharoor, nugaas valleys in addition to the Indian Ocean that has the potential to turn Somalia from ashy to classy overnight. While I respect Your dedication and pride to Your clan, there comes a point Where pride becomes foolish. For someone who is a expatriate working in the Khaleej I think You know first hand what Oil Recourses can do.

I would like that, i have never seen the south since i came back for a visit as a 6 year old back in 85.

I wish that all of somalia would soon have the peace and stability that we have today in Somaliland.
and inshallah a future of prosperity too.

Tell that to a resident of the niger delta, or to a dinka.
A stable and working state that works to improve the lives of its people and is not a dystopian kleptocracy transforms
oil wealth into prosperity.

you will not go anywhere without it..
your problems are 100% to do with politics, not resources because somalia as a whole is full of resources.
Our 2 rivers if modern technology is used could feed all of Ethiopia +Somalia..

I assume that you do not know the geographical location of the Nuugaal basin.
It runs from Garowe all the way to berbera with most of the oil seeps occurring near berbera and Lascanood.
Most of the nuugaal basin is within somaliland borders, and nearly half of it is within isaaq borders.

The offshore resources have not been taken into account here as well.

Gurey,

Didn't know about how much territory the Dahroor basin covered. About the constant political chaos in Somalia and how it will stifle any financial windfalls from Oil while I do agree on one hand, You have to factor in that Somalia as a whole and yes including Your Somaliland is only about 10 million people. Even with collasol mismanagement of recourses there will still be way more than enough wealth to go around.

Murax

yes but that depends on the big IF!!..
IF all this oil talk pans out into something real..

The dharoor block definatley has oil.. i own stock in range resources and i have spoken to actual geologists that were onsite
and nugaal appears to have oil as well..
lets wait and see..

but seriously speaking, oil discovery will not change our political course.
we will welcome it because it will mean more serious prospecting in our lands, and more investments.

you do not throw away your sovereignty for potential cashflow.
