Some of those maps are rubbish and nonsense. The borders of the eastern HY go further than that, as far as Kulmiye and beyond which is about 30km east of Ceerigaabo and a little bit north of Jidaali. Also the rural Jidaali area is shared and is not exclusive to one clan, again Masagan is not exclusive to one clan alongside Biyogaduud. It was not long ago the former governor of Somaliland Mr Abdi Ali Hure was visting those areas along with Dibqarax. Also somewhere in 2008 fighting broke out in the Biyo-Gaduud area which is about 45km south east of Ceerigaabo between locals belonging to the HY and DH clans. Do not underestimate our eastern borders. One thing you got right though is Ceerigaabo is a majority Isaaq deegaan in particular HY whether you go west to Yufleh, north to Karin or east to Kulmiye or south to Durdur it is dominated by them, majority rules minority rights.

For those who are not familiar with deegaanka Kulmiye it is located in 30km east of Ceerigaabo it was one of our military bases in the 90s where we coordinated attacks against the groups who formerly supported the fallen dictator Siad Bare.
SNM militia based in Kulmiye in Sanaag, attacked Dhulbahantes in Hudun and Sanirgood. Dhulbahantes were captured and some were killed in custody, which caused long-standing grievances among the Dhulbahante (Nur, Talaabo, ).

Yes and no, yes people do regularly cross the border but it would no longer be one town. It would be like Galkacyo is today, with the "Green Line" dividing the town like an invisible Berlin Wall.

i think OOG town in caynabo district is not a border town between isaaq and darood as it appears in james map, but exclusive for isaaq. My undernstanding is that isaaq/HJ live far into the south of Oog and far insise Buhodle distict. can someone with good knowlegde of the region explain more.
