I did; honestly I do not recommend it!
some things are better left in mystery!

Reading Qur'an in language that I understand shaked my Iman and made me go through difficult times thinking over the meaning of faith.
Masha Allah I overcame all that, but I came out as a different believer now!
For instance I dont believe that Qur'an is a science book; or that it contains every knowledge!

Actually every single topic related to morality/life is discussed in the verses. You just have to read it very carefully. The book is complete in-itself.

I agree whit you. its better to leave quran its original arabic form and never try to translate in to another languege or in to english.
if Quran was written af soomaali and we never use its arabic form then probably most of somalis would have started to doubt it.
forexample this quranic verse from quran somali translation

Image
the verse its not mystery anymore when you read its somali translation

somali tafsiir
Quluubtay ka bukaan markaasaa Eebe u siyaadiyay Cuduro waxayna mudan Cadaab daran Beentoodii Darteed

Very few non-Arab muslims have the time and patience to learn CLASSICAL Arabic (which is not the same as MODERN Arabic).. so there's nothing wrong with reading professional made translations, unless you want to waste thousands of hours learning a dead language.

shaab_ wrote:I just finished reading it completely for the first time recently, and I must say it's a rather complex book and you end up cross-referencing/looking up interpretations of complex verses a lot (so it might take much longer than you would initially expect).

What surprised me the most was that some Muslim practices aren't even explicitly stated in the Quran.
Muslim practices? Which exactly? Because I've come across prayer, fasting, charity, pilgrimage, abstinence, honourable behaviour, etc.

Impossible?

C'mon greenday, it's not impossible. It's one book, and not even that large.

How do you reconcile this comment:
In my heart of hearts ive always accepted that Islam is perfect in every aspect and if i couldnt understand something it was due to my follies and not my diins.
With the fact that you haven't fully read the main holy text of Islam? Don't mean to put you on the spot bro, but it's something that's always intrigued me when people say that.
