Actually it's both, the only way to have a better future is if this generation is willing endure the short term failures, and persevere so that the future generations can enjoy a long term success. Now if you will excuse me, my tea is getting cold.

Re: Investing in Somalia
I am seriously thinking in investing in real estate. Hope to buy a plot of Land in Shabeeloyinka or Jubooyinka inshalah. God knows the increase of value of land and house prices when peace comes inshalah. In Somalia investment in real estate agriculture, fishery and livestock are most profitable sectors to invest in. The lack of efficient infrastructure is a major obstacle. However Somalis are very innovative with minimal resources and can easily adapt to new strategies and eventually develop.

True as MSB once said doonaa waa gaara, in order to reach for success you have to have a strong will and that usually comes with a heap of obstacles. Enjoy your tea Sir, thanks for your splendid input.AgentOfChaos wrote:Actually it's both, the only way to have a better future is if this generation is willing endure the short term failures, and persevere so that the future generations can enjoy a long term success. Re: Investing in Somalia
The price of real estate in Somalia will only rise, its not gonna start dropping any time soon so I think investing in Somalia would be good

Re: Investing in Somalia
Real estate is ridiculous. Fix up your house and rent it out for anywhere between 5k to 20k a month.
One of my awoowes just rented out a property he fixed up near the beach in Xamar. He got 6 months rent up front and is ballin

Re: Investing in Somalia
there should be a ban on real estate speculation.
the priority must be for the population of xamar and environs, to have decent homes and good sanitation.
speculation will only lead to housing bubbles and make homes unaffordable to the majority of people.

For common folk, yeah housing is unaffordable. But thats cause of the few moguls who got cash and bought up so much land.original dervish wrote:there should be a ban on real estate speculation.

Xamar is going to turn into a place only the elite can afford.

the land must be taking into public ownership. at least temporarily, so there is sufficient land to meet the housing needs of the population.
its wrong to turn over the country to the rich and powerful, many of whom got rich off the war.

Not a good move; weak institutions not good for investments. Yeah, sometimes there are returns on capital investment but there is a risk premium and higher opportunity/transcation costs.
