Let's see how it sails through mucky Somalia waters. It has an uphill battle to win. Barakat's Salama Bank controls 100% of all e-money transfers and transactions in Somalia and the gov/un/ngos use Dahabshil Bank. Dahabshil is now buying telco companies to match zaad/sahal electronic service.

Its a long shot. They are banking on technology, outside linkages and expertise to keep it running with the pack. Salaama ex barakat is dubious after what happened with Barakaat in 2001. Dahabshil is barking up the wrong tree when trying to enter the telcoms business. They failed with SOMTEL. If I were them, I would have bought a significant share of Nationlink and used that platform to harass Barakat.

dshiil now bought (in paper with no final payout yet) near-defunct olympic/telecom in the south/pland. FSB must team up with Nation to attract new customers.

Barkat will still be the elephant in the room for sometime to come.

And I'm guessing a few more in the planning phase.
