I beg to differ lol. I think it's offered just so you can get an alternative view of things for the sake of completeness. You'll go through a whole semester
wrestling with the main issues of a topic before you quickly touch on what feminists and Marxists have to say about it. Well, from my experience anyway.

From my own experience I've found that conflict theories are touched on in intro classes but are impossible to not come across in your later years. Nonetheless, that isn't reflective of how "serious" the discipline is taken.

That's the point I was trying to make. It's not as simple as gender ONLY. That's where hardcore feminists lose the plot.

Again, feminism examines the social, political and economic factors. It's not just about gender.

Lol I know that but what does that have to do with anything. Class conflict is a central tenet of communism. Do you disagree?

I think this person looks strange and is apparently somewhat of an attention whore, but if "she" made the decision to be considered a woman socially and legally I have no problems with it. Society must protect the personal liberties of all people.

"Be a man" is what you would say when encouraging a male to be strong or play his traditional role as a provider and protector. I had a huge problem with the phrase "don't be such a girl" but really when you think about it, girls are delicate and a boy should not behave like a girl.

Lillahiiya you're burrying your head in the sand if you think the feminist movement is as strong now as 1960s-80s. Even feminists have acknowledged it and continue to ask what went wrong.

As for the new feminism...it's like the current neo-nazis and unions....yes they exist on the fringes but they no longer command the respect they did in their heyday of the 30s.
