Can you imagine what would happen if every US senator and member of house of representatives said they wanted to be included in every meeting Obama had with official from other countries? I understand where you are coming from, and I respect that, but here is the thing though. First of all there are members of parliament from Mudug, Nugaal, and Bari in the TFG who were elected by their own people or else they wouldn't be there in the first place, and if any given State in Somalia wants another representative they can always change their current representative. Every State has the right to choose it's own representative, that's the easy part, here is the hard part to understand, and correct me if I'm wrong but ANY Autonomous State(Puntland, Somaliland, Khaatumo, or whetever) has no say in the matters of Somali government, and last time I checked Somalia had only 18 states and Puntland was not one of it.Niya wrote:The problem that keeps repeating is the lack of consulatation with Puntland. Puntland has a mamuul that has to be consulted if we want to have genuine reconcialtion. Selecting a random person from Puntland with-out consultation with Puntand should be interpreted as a direct challenge to undermine the legitmate authority in Puntland. (Carta tactics is in play often). I can not go to Mogadishu, and claim to represent Puntland government nor should the TFG select a random person as filler for a quota for Puntland.AgentOfChaos wrote:I'm pretty sure every Somali State/clan has a representative in the TFG, and it would be unreasonable for EVERY member of TFG to be present whenever TFG has a meeting or conference with officials from other government let alone for Puntland to make demands that special accommodations be made just for them but it's their prerogative.
Puntland is not asking much. Just mutual consultation, if genuine reconciliation is the goal.

^ You are comparing apples to organges. Somalia has to evolve to a level of sophistication to reach the point where only qualified people regardless of clan are the ones selected to attended conferences or appointed to a post. We are not there yet. The issue at hand is more about the principle of consultation. The country is moving towards federalism, but it seems that the TFG is averse to consulting with Puntland government and is using dividing tactics to undermine Puntland.
