One of the benefits of the civil war was the religious revival amongst Somali women.

People back then were simple suufis who just came out of baadiye, they didnt have strong sense of deen therefore were susceptible to western standard of beauty. My mother tells me during the 80's a nasty style came out where young girls wore see through clothing out in the market and each generation tried to out do the next one in "magaalnimo" SMH.
