Despite what the report is saying, I agree with Daf the timing is very appropriate for whatever the IC/UN have planned for Somalia. Are you telling me if a single Somali mother on welfare somewhere in Nebraska, United State without access to internet or news knows that Shariif Sakiin is corrupt the UN who supplies TFG coffers didn't know all these years??

Why now with this "qarxis" unless it is is very politically oriented move that says "time's up, pack your bags."

For Sheikh Sharif it could be "the chickens are coming home to roost".

Sakiin took documented kickbacks, owns shares in a company that apparently sells passports to terrorists, and counterfeits money in Sudan. Abdiweli apparently sends letters to custom authorities requesting tax exemptions for companies, and the SEMG has documents that show Abdiweli requesting donated money for his office in addition to the SEMG claiming that 30% of funds were stolen by the top 3. Shariif's office, in addition to the two aforementioned leaders, has spent as much money as they did on the army and all the other ministries combined. Faroole is apparently a facilitator of companies that are serial violators of the arms embargo.

Yet, the entire Farmaajo section is based on unverified claims made by direct political rivals that the SEMG itself admits are unsubstantiated. I don't know why the monitoring group chose to publish Abdiweli's claims and in turn, legitimize them in the eyes of those who'll deliberately misinterpret their findings despite the SEMG's admission that the claims could not be substantiated. I think they owe him an apology.
1: every minister request tax exemption there is nothing inherently illegal about that, if the companies where proven to be his cronies that would be a different story, but that isnt the case.

2: there is no documented evidence showing abdiweli asking for aid money, but even for the sake of argument that was the case, there is nothing wrong with that in itself as well, if the funds were not mismanaged or used for personal reason, and there is no evidence suggesting that.

3: you have to remember that most of the evidence of the report were taken when faarmajo was Pm, so the top 3 offices would be that of faarmaajo sheik sharif and sakiin. :ugeek:
1. Nothing inherently illegal, but nevertheless something the SEMG clearly felt was dodgy enough to warrant a place in the report.

2. Actually there is. “In early 2012, South Sudan donated, through Price Waterhouse Coopers, US$1 million to support TFG reconciliation efforts in Somalia’s newly liberated areas. A senior TFG official confirmed to the SEMG that the TFG did indeed receive the US$1 million from South Sudan.59 According to internal TFG documents obtained by the SEMG, the PM instructed the Finance Ministry to disburse the funds directly to individual government officials, MPs and political figures, including US$121,700 to his own office. No further information is available as to what these individuals did with the money, or whether any of these funds were in fact spent on reconciliation efforts.” Again, the SEMG felt that distributing $1 million of aid money to government officials, MPs, and political figures, in addition to more than a 10% cut to his own office, wasn't exactly what the money was intended for.

3. The report mentions the top 3 offices only in the Abdiweli, Sakiin, and Dalxiis sections. Common sense dictates the SEMG was implicating the three aforementioned individuals when they speak of the top 3, and not Farmaajo.

1: there is actually nothing dodgy about that at all, the minister of womens health of PL recently gave tax exemption status to an NGO run by relatives of mine. Should she be investigated? :?

there are no documents in the report backing this up, so far its he said she said, as teh only proof they have is what some minister said.

3: The report is a mix bag most of it such as the 15 million indiscretions where under PM faarmaajo administration, only the 1mill from south sudan was under PM abdiwelis admin, and even that is merely he said she said with no significant evidence showing any form of corruption what so ever. 15mil VS 1 Mill I will let you be the judge.

whether or not the report is credible is besides the point, there is nothing on the report regarding Farmaajo other than the baseless allegation made by Abdiwalli, do you understand this far. I do not care about the wife of the man who made this report, all I am saying is learn how to read and comprehend the English language before you type nonsense.

If you behave like a grown up, and not a pathetic troll I would not be so harsh, the reason is I think you are a cool brother, but you should read before commenting, I know the OP maligned Farmaajo, but the report really has nothing to do with him.

Ok brother, Cafis.

The Few $millions the somaliens are fighting over are a negligible fraction of that stolen by non-somalien agents. For 21 years Land, Air and Sea revenues have been managed from Kenya, what the Somalien tuugs took is less then 0.1% in that period.

The Minister of Women's health in PL was not mentioned in a report by the SEMG. If the monitoring group did not think the PMs penchant for granting tax exemptions wasn't dodgy, they wouldn't have mentioned it in their report on corruption.

It's not he said, she said at all. The TFG official confirmed they received the mil, but the SEMG itself obtained internal TFG documents that implicate Abdiweli.
"A senior TFG official confirmed to the SEMG that the TFG did indeed receive the US$1 million from South Sudan.59 According to internal TFG documents obtained by the SEMG, the PM instructed the Finance Ministry to disburse the funds directly to individual government officials, MPs and political figures, including US$121,700 to his own office"

No, Abdiweli claimed that his administration only received 5 million while Farmaajo received 10 million, despite the SEMG saying otherwise. He then claimed that only 6.5 was deposited into the central bank, but the SEMG clearly states that his claims were not verified by the Central Bank, and by extension, the SEMG. On the other hand, the SEMG says they have TFG documents that implicate the PM in the 1 mil from Sudan. There's a distinct difference.

Fah-

No one is surprised at the material. We are all surprised that finally, after all this time, a report was done on it and also the timing of it. :)

The Monitoring Group interviewed a wide range of sources with relevant information, including government officials, representatives from diplomatic missions, civil society organizations and aid agencies. Members of the Monitoring Group met with a variety of Transitional Federal Government officials, officials from the Somaliland, Puntland and Gaalmudug administrations, other political and armed groups, and numerous members of Somali civil society. However, in a letter dated 14 August 2011, the TFG President designated the Monitoring Group's Coordinator 'persona non grata' in Somalia. Several senior TFG officials with direct knowledge of this decision have informed the Monitoring Group that the letter was prepared upon the advice of Ms. Khadija Ossoble, an advisor to the TFG President who has been named in previous Monitoring Group reports. The Monitoring Group recommends that the Committee consider censuring President Sharif and Ms. Ossoble for attempting to obstruct the work of the Monitoring Group.
