Anti virus programs

Post by Advo »

:wtf:

I just realized they're scams, I had Avast for a while but this thing infected my computer, gave me google direct virus and made my laptop painfully slow, not to mention pop ups from their company asking me to upgrade every 10 seconds.

Now that I successfully removed it, the problem is gone...there's no trace at all.

Now would u guys suggest I should keep my computer free of anti virus softwares or am I taking a bigger risk in the long run?

Advo,

Big mistake. What you have done is similar to going to TJ, and going bareback with the ladies of the night 24/7.

My advice is for you to use MalwareBytes and AVAST Free Antivirus (works like a champ). Malwarebytes kills most malware and Avast is great.

Advo,

I know. It ain't AVast's fault but if you don't want it try AVG Free Version but before doing anything else, try MalwareBytes:

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-A ... ag=mncol;1

This has killed 100% of all malware that I have had to remove. In addition, have Windows Bit Defender do a scan of your system.

Abduwahab: malwarebytes isn't technically an antivirus tool.

Elite,

Adeer, I know. His symptoms are those of spyware. A quick clean with malwarebytes should fix the problems and an install of AVG will treat what ever is left.

You are taking the biggest risk if you choose to not use an anti-virus program. My same computer fcked up 2 TIMES within a year. The second time it fucked up only because I reinstalled Windows and I forgot to download the anti virus program.

Download AVG. It is the best. It is better than Norton Anti Virus.

http://free.avg.com/ww-en/homepage

There is also a mobile version app for AVG. Download it for your Android or iPhone if you have a smartphone. It is a MUST.

Invisible,

I avoid Windows like a plague and prefer UBUNTU LINUX. Safe, secure and low maintenance

advo - try one of the free personal firewalls too. I think Microsoft one is now free. These programs will help you see which program is trying make internet connection, virus or not. Incoming connections are also monitored, blocked or warned about depending on your configuration.

You are talking to a man who traded away a new Macbook Pro to a sibling for a used Sony Vaio with Windows XP. I am very afraid of change but I have heard alot of great things about Ubuntu. How is it with Microsoft Office, Firefox and other much needed applications/programs?

It comes with all the multimedia codecs and has open source alternative for Microsoft Office. I got my entire family on Ubuntu including my Father and Mother. No more viruses from Dayniile.com
