Qadhaadh and Qadaad has two different meanings. Qadhaadh means bitter or disgusting. Often used when talking about food or beverages. But Qadaad means neck as you pointed out. The spelling is very similar but the words have different meaning.Skippa wrote:I don't know what the yam yam means but it's qadaad weyn and it means thick neck

Obbo Barentu akam dufte?
Yam Yam means being populous, qadaado weyn means being proud, arrogant and mighty.
I say this cos I heard it from reer Amadin who use it too often.I think it is a popular expression in Babile and its environs.

Yam Yam iyo qadaad weyn is an idiom. It is a derogatory idiom
Somalis use for people that are not known in the area..They say " Yaa yaqaan waa belo, yam yam iyo qadaad weyn"
