Modern Somalia's history will be organized this way

Post by The`Republic »

Listening to the Speaker of parliament speeches, I was earlier struck by the continued use of "Jamhuuriyada Labaad" (Second Republic) and then reading statements like this from foreign leaders, I can already see how the modern history of Somalia will be divided:

Norwegian Foreign Minister's press release
“I congratulate Somalia on the inauguration of a new federal parliament and the well-conducted election of a new Speaker of Parliament. Somalia has a parliament for the first time in more than 20 years.

Leading to this forming organization

The First Republic is from 1960-1969, that is the last time Somali rule was considered democratic. 1969-91 is the Kacaan years and should be categorized separately.

Italian-Somalia territory has never existed on the international arena as a sovereign state this due to the UNION with British Somaliland territory in 1960. The Republic ceased to exist a long time ago and the future is bright the time is now for a new vision to create stability and progress for the Nomadic somalis to have a semblance of normality and statehood not empty fantasy. We are nearing the final stages of putting the nails on the coffin of UNITY of 2 states how it will occur will be determined during the term of this new government.

Even if a single square meter of the old somali republic is granted independence it can no longer claim to be the former republic. Certainly change is here change in now and i PITY the governments on either side that are charged with DISSOLVING that which our forefathers UNITED.

There is an opportunity for XAQ and SINAAN to usher in new periods where somalis may once again have the opportunity to facilitate Romantic notions and ideals of MIDNIMO, QARAN and SOMALINIMO but we are faced with opposing views that will produce JOY for some and BITTERNESS for others.

A NEW DAWN or A NEW SUNSET it is a matter of preferred perspective. It is wiser to prepare for either and understand there is only one logical END path in convergence theory UNION(end state) inevitable and it's futility only impeded by FEAR of temporary divergence.

Summary: The most perfect system is rendered imperfect as a consequence of it's employment of Humans and their erroneous nature.

The First Republic is from 1960-1991. A Republic is not necessarily a democracy. A Republic is of a society free from monarchy and foreign control which is governed by the people (USA, India, etc) or for the people (Somalia under Siad, China, etc).

Somalia was a contiguous Republic from 1960 until 1991.

Then the Civil War and now we are facing the Second Republic

I got it though your statement is bit contradictory, democracy is a system of governance 'by the people, for the people', which a dictator is not. In terms of anarchy and chaos, when never had that in those years.

It is not contradictory and I meant to say "and/or" not only "or".
A Republic is of a society free from monarchy and foreign control which is governed by the people (USA, India, etc) and/or for the people (Somalia under Siad, China, etc).
Essentially whether these states are autocracies , theocracies, parliamentary democracies, they are still a Republic.
Republics tend to be characterized by reference to a charter/constitution or established laws. It would seem that in US history/thinking that this includes protection of individual rights.

Democracies stress equal participation and can be divided into several categories including "direct" where the people vote on everything, "representative" where the people vote for representatives who vote on the issues and "consensus".

1991-2012= dark ages

you would be surprised how similar somali civil war is to the European dark ages

do you-know that western land aristocracy are warlords that moved to the countryside after Rome fell, because cities were disease ridden and dangerous.
the aristocrats who moved away from the cities crafted their their own authority in the countryside just like somali warlords and they became lord of the manor with theor own Chateau.

during the period of 1969-1991 the Somali constitution was actually enforced more vigorously than during 1960-1969, the only difference was Somalia's government changed into an autocratic form of government, and all the bureaucracy that held the country back for 9 years was wiped out.
