I love how some mechanics try to rob customers. My cousin drops her car off with me and says that she needs to get her transmission replaced ($2,500) because her mechanic told her so. I tell her to leave it with me and I am off to various garages. One says, fuel filter. Next one says, "transmission". Third says I need a tune up. I don't believe any of them and put the car to work. Driving it up and down I-95, up steep hills and the car runs smoothly like a champ. I go to my friend Pablo who is a parking lot mechanic and we go for a spin. He says nothing is wrong with the car and says to change the transmission oil and air filter. I buy him a case of beer ($17).
So ladies and gentlemen, don't trust your mechanics but always double check.
