Somalis are good people

In my city we had this lady who was very sick and needed an operation she could not afford but our somali community raised the money across clan differences and political differences, we are good people when it matters. Also in my city a group of somali children became orphans after their parents died but their somali neighbors adopted them and they were from a different clan.

What I dont understand is that when we are so brotherly towards each other as individuals then why were we fighting aganist each other in 21 years?

majority of human are good in personal level. only disagreement comes when interests clash. that's what is going on back home.

That is what I have been asking for myself for a long time. I can donate my kidney to a dying somali person without asking for their name but I would definately ask for their qabil if I have to vote for them in a presidential election.

As Somalis, we are somehow manipulated by clan leaders with no rational thinking. These so called leaders dictate what their clan members should do, what they should think and feel. Which means that indirectly these clan leaders control the direction our country is heading.

One example is the wars that took place in Buuhodle, Galgal, Kalshaale, Qorilugud etc. The people who lost everything was the reer Miyi wether they were HJ or Dhulbahante. Whats even worse is that the people who fought eachother were related. An Abti could fight inankuu abtiga u yahay and vice versa just because they had to protect the interests of their respective leaders.

The only way to leave these problems is proper education.

Tribe seems to blind a lot of them thou. They just can't shake it off.
