Are You telling Me people do fadhi ku dirir IN Somalia? I thought that was a qurbo thing and that people in Somalia don't have time for that shid and are just trying to survive. One thing I've noticed is very recent arrivals from Somalia always seemed less interested in knowing what My qabiil was than people who've been here for a long time.

My guy, majority of people in Somalia don't have jobs, they have all the time in the world. What else would they do?

Well times not necessarily the right word what I meant was more like effort or care. I knew this one Somali guy in Jeddah, Saudi from Hawlwadaag, Xamar. This dude did tahriib FOUR times from Xamar to Saudi, deportation and again. I can't imgine the likes of this guy and many like Him back in Somalia are too concerned with clan politics as us in the West who eat 3 meals a day + snack.

Youngsters dont talk about qabiil, they are more intrested in movies and sports rathere than qabiil. And usually people talking qabiil related stuff do it on low voice so people wouldnt hear them. Overall qabiil talking in Mogadishu in something looked down upon and its considered as reer baadiyo thing.

Yup, xamar is by far the least qabiilist city in Somalia.

murax, many somalis in the country, especially places like Mogadishu and Bosaso are wealthier than almost every Somali in the western world. Mogadishu real estate is much more expensive than that of most American cities - there are no mortgages/bank bails too. We have really rich ppl, average millionaires, middle class, and yes, a lot of poor people. Many overbooked hotels are $100+ per night. next meal? my new favorite term: ma isku cayarena

About the qabil, when I was new to Somalia I thought younger generation didnt care about it. That's not the case, sadly. They may not talk about it publicly but they are pre-programmed to believe in tolka ideology. They are also the foot soldiers. If you want to think qabil in Somalia, think of a multi-party political system in which children are born into the the party.

Qurbaha: It all depends on your parents, relatives, and how many Somalis you interact with. How many times have you seen a Somali who drives a coupe? You don't see many because somalis are groupie ppl and your clan mentality depends on which group you interact with the most. Places like London, Minneapolis, etc, your tolka is abundant and you'll hardly interact with others. Look @ this forum, some folks genuinely believe their tribe (father side) is ALWAYS right regardless of what the argument is about. Blame it on too much tolka interaction.

Jaidi, me too. I was thinking of collecting about four thousand to live in Somalia for about 3-4 months. I was also planning on visiting many different cities in different regions and whatnot
