MP Abdiwali Gas is rejected from golaha wasiiraha
Former minister Abdiwali Gas has been black listed to hold any of the high positions within the new government including as a minister. The International community is completely against him holding any position, and as a matter of fact is against any former members of the last government to get any high seats. The President and PM both have agreed that he is someone that can not be trusted, this is due to many reasons. Going back to the relationship between him and Farmaajo, where Farmaajo brought him in, believed he was his friend, but was back stabbed by first the UN report and then using his position to sideline Farmaajo.
As PM, Abdiwali knowing that he couldn't be replaced, showed very close ties to Faroole, and was seen as "faroole's man" rather than Sharif, and their relationship completely soured in the end. As his last act as acting PM in the former TFG government, he declared null and void all unilateral agreements and declarations by former President Sheikh Shariff during the PM's tenure.
He showed his political ambition running for the top seat, and when he lost it, it is reported as the head of the UN summit envoy on behalf of Somalia, he tried to lobby for his nomination as the Presidents PM choice. He tried to re-make his image by hastily putting together a committee to deal with the crisis in Beled-weyne, though it is hard to see what influence or change he can make with no mandate, no money, and no personnel on the ground.
All in all, MP Abdiwali Gas has used up his political capital, his character shown, and has been determined (despite his qualifications) as a divisive, ambitious, and untrustable figure. Even now he is lobbying to be part of the cabinet but the PM nominated Mr Shirdoon is in agreement with the President Xassan sheikh.
NO to Mr Gas.

True, though it doesn't seem like he got that memo, but the President and PM are also given leeway if they believe that it is crucial to internal politics. But the President and PM are not able to nor have the desire to make that argument.
It also seems that Puntland has been even sidelined to making input in the formation of the cabinet to the point that Faroole/Puntland is toxic waste in Xamar. They truly believe that a new government has been formed and that the south needs almost 100% of the focus. Neutral Mj's, who are well known to the PM, and is trusted will get certain positions. This new government is very conscious of the reputation of corruption in the TFG, and the aid-sharing between the TFG and Puntland, and for that reason they will be given no chance to do that.
Also, the next cabinet will mostly be made of 18 ministers but could also be 14 at first with more ministers being added as the government progresses. This way they can put more emphasis and resources on key issues.

If this is true, then his entire cabinet should be 'black listed' as well.

Coldoon, that is pretty much the case. Somalia is not in short of capable administrators, but short in given them the opportunity. Gas is not trusted, and his cabinet falls in that category. Also the Rahanwayne former Farmaajo cabinet minister, founding member of Tayo party, turned MP and then joined Sharif's camp is out of the question. The most prized commodity is trust and capability.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Marehan and Abgaal cannot be in Goloha Wasiiradda, right? If they can, then Farmaajo has to be included. He is the most trusted man Somalia has seen since the downfall of Somalia's last legitimate Government of President Siyaad Barre.

Sxb, politics is not for the faint hearted. The new government wants to make a name for themselves without being over-shadowed by previous politician's gains and popularity. Farmaajo did good, but he didn't do the impossible, and that is what they all believe, that they are all capable of doing that and more.

Abdiweli is not a bad guy. I have no problem if he holds the Minister for Finance position.

If Puntland is Toxic waste in Xamar as you put it, what you think Xamar iyo this South Central President and Prime Minister will be in Garowe?
ps: It's funny how you small minded Ilkayare act every-time you assume the slightest position of power.
As for Abdiwali Gas why on earth would a former Prime Minister want to be a Minister?

oxymoron Puntland was sidelined President Hassan sheikh mahamuud didn't even consider appointing a majeerteen for the seat there were Puntland candidates 2 majeerteens and one leelkase he didn't even consider them as candidates he never took their application serious. The only reason faroole is so quiet is he is scared to be called spoiler but the President knew who he wanted from the beginning. You have no say about the new ministers the prime minister will form his cabinet since he is the head of government. Thats why faroole said aslong as the constitution is adhered we will work with the new government he had no choice.

The constitution in an interesting way is the Puntland in the mix and it's more powerful than the President himself. The Constitution is based on what Puntland has been fighting for. Federalism and State rights. Sidelining Puntland is sidelining the Constitution and off course that is not allowed.khalid ali wrote:oxymoron Puntland was sidelined President Hassan sheikh mahamuud didn't even consider appointing a majeerteen for the seat there were Puntland candidates 2 majeerteens and one leelkase he didn't even consider them as candidates he never took their application serious. Faroole told them to follow the political foundation set by Puntland the new Somali Constitution and we shall have no problems. Political positions mattered when there was no Constitution to follow. It's a whole different ball game and it's fully to Puntland's advantage as you will all realize soon.
