Literally I don't know any other town in Somalia that has seen as much war as Beled-Xaawo (not even Kismaayo! which hasn't major war inside of the town on great capacity)....it was the site of the decisive USC vs. SNF war, it was the sight of the decisive SNF vs. Al Itihad war, the Ethiopia vs. Al Itihad war, the decisive Ahlu Sunnah vs. AL Shabaab war in the entire south outside of Mogadishu...literally! But here it stands resiliant mashallah...all standing because of trade between Somalia and Kenya. Beled-Xaawo has the future to shine as a gem as a point of reference between Somalia-Kenya-Ethiopia.

On facebook I spoke to a dhaqan celis girl who crossed over from mandheera everyday for grocery shopping and other goods. I didnt know beledxaawo is very important to bordering towns.
