Actually, I've heard stories that similar shit like this took place in the South during the early days of the civil war. Stories of people eating people due to starvation and/or animosity around Muqdisho and other inhumane acts.

I remember back in the late 90s they were weighting people, and based on your weight you paid a fee or sold as meat.
