The Mad caw statue doesn't belong in the capital city of Xamar, the hawiye brought it done waanay ku mahadsanyihin
Mujahid qaasim composed a poem in 1973 about this and eventually we got rid of it
Seeftii Abgaal bay agtaal, saawirta ahayde
Habar Gidir sinsaarada ku timid, sigay Ugaaskiiye
Sixilluu Kacaankani u galay, Sacad raggiisiiye

Re: The Statue Of Sayyid Abdulle Hassan
This has nothing to do with the late Sayyid being Daarood, for the same individuals who looted this statue did not hesitate to loot the statues of Xaawo Taako & Dhagaxtuur (both Hawiye). Greed, pure and simple. The thugs who looted this statue & sold it for scrap metal were looting electric wires, plumping pipes & everything else that had trace amounts of copper, brass, bronze or anything else of any value. But, leave it to qabiil infested simpletons to air out their frustrations & bickering about a man who's been dead over a century ago.
He came, he did what he had to do and he left. End of story.

Since when was Xaawo Taako Hawiye? I thought she was Bartiree.
I agree with everything else you said. Why would you expect this people to behave any different when they looted and robbed everything in Mogadisho.

@Vengeance - I grew up hearing she was Hawiye. Not sure though.
My point was it didn't matter whose statues they looted. Ahmed Gurey's statue was also taken and sold for scrap.
It's always been personal greed of a few individuals before all else including clan interests & allegiance.

Re: The Statue Of Sayyid Abdulle Hassan
because it's a famous story. It's said that the guy was in the hospital waiting for his 7th child to be delivered when the reality hit the fan and the lootings started. He started with the hospital and told his kids to grap whatever they could.ManD333q wrote:lol how do you know where his children were conceived ?metamorphosis wrote:Waa iska cawaan niyoow. Loool. It sounds like the typical fictional Somali stories, fabricated to demean another clan they dislike. But, it is hilarous nonetheless.metamorphosis wrote:because it's a famous story.
