How many of you ladies received the "We do not marry those people" lecture from a parent, uncle/aunty, or a close family friend?


It's on everyone's lips these days. I'm not thinking of marriage at all, but knowing someone, preferably a guy or a girl who has couple of brothers, who is categorized as the "people we don't marry" is enough to bring about the "We don't marry those people" lecture.


I usually nod my head and move on, but how many of you ladies consider or considered the tribal background of the person you are interested in?

I think it's much more easy for the guys to marry someone their parents disagree with, religious wise and culture wise. Both genders will receive a "shitstorm" from their family, but I doubt it's in the interest of the girl to put a crack in the relationship she has with her mother, aunties and are close circle. She would have to re-establish any broken ties if the marriage doesn't work and she is left with kids.
