 I can understand if it was 95-2000, but things have moved way past that. My closest relatives are dir, ogadeen, mr, isaaq, abgaal, ajnabi, so it doesn't even matter. When I'm ready for marriage, my biggest criteria will be compatibality, and happy future, full stop.

BV, what are your reer-abti, abgal?

PO yeah mayn

You lot are just being politically correct now. PO how would you feel about marrying a Sacad girl who thought Caydiid was a noble liberator or an Isaaq one whose blood would boil at the mere mention of MSB?

Don't expect to get a straight answer. It's not the tribal linage that count, but the social behavior and circles that have been created by Somalis after the civil war.

Elf, true and there are very many reasonable and balanced people out there but let's be honest they are few and far between.

How I feel about those girls does not test the depth of my qabilism or anti qabilism when it comes to marriage. The test comes when we are compatible and the only reason I reject her is because of her qabil.

They most certainly do. In many cases, it's the men who are forced to not marry from the enemy clan or from the minority ignoble.

Horta I prefer not to marry with in my so called qabiil due to obvious reason, tan labaad I normally consider other things when m dealing with my guls so by the time I fall in love with her I might not her qabiil.

Being said that, I prefer my wives to be from Xamar because Naag reer gobal ah inta la tababar ayaa waqti qaadanee!

After being on this forum for a while I have seen the historical and political baggage Somali tribes have of each other. Somalinet has been great because it exposes you to other tribes outside of your circle . But you also see the animosity people hold of each others tribe. And supposedly a majority of the people expressing their views on this site are young people. I wonder what the people in their 40+ think.

Anyways, If I did marry from a different tribe I think my concern would be if his family have any baggage with my tribe. Some people are weird like that and stir up trouble. It's great to find someone you are compatible with but if I can't make it work with the family it's a no go area. If I marry someone I want to have close ties with the family.

PO and SimplySerene

I've just seen some really vindictive people on SNet which has genuinely put me off. Not to say that all the people from my qabiil are awesome and all others are rubbish but you can't ignore what's staring you in the face
