Shaming Culture......

Post by gedo_gurl »

How many of you care if a girl:

Drinks
Goes to clubs/bars/house parties/pubs
Has a non Somali boyfriend
Dates but doesnt want to marry
Is borderline atheist
Is liberal in her political views
Never wants to wear a hijab (some girls say 'inshaallah one day', she's not one of those
Swims in bikinis and wears short clothes fashionably
Wants Somalia to be a Liberal Democratic country
Supports gay rights
Supports abortion rights worldwide

Now bear in mind that these women exist.

Would you shame her, harass her and give her a sermon that you know she wont listen to?
Would you want her arrested if she was in Somalia?
Would you search for her family on Facebook/in your community and hold a meeting about her?
Would you be offended by her personal choices?

The Somali community outside of Somalia and Arab countries have a large and growing liberal set of men and women. The men go unnoticed but the women stick out and I just wanted to know where you all stand on this issue.

Since m a Muslim and everything u said goes against the teaching of Islam i will feel bad about her.

If she is in Somalia and Somalia is functioning then it will depend on what kind of laws Somalia has got at that time, I will neither shame her nor harass her since she is responsible of her self, if she s somebody whom i know i might talk to her other wise i got other things to do, from time to time i do see them, i have even seen some who are ayeeyo who almost meet ur description, i just look at them and say "Acuudi billahI".

I will leave her alone. She knows what is best for her and everybody chooses their destination. No body bothers me so will bother no body. I will just mind my own business. Don't even know my neighbours name.I work with a somali girl who wears jeans, exposses her hair, married to cadaan man with two children with him. I call her abaayo seetahay every morning when we meet at the coffee table. She likes me because I don't bother her. I even ask her how the kids and the husband is doing.

im not in shaming business under any circumstances . Allah eebteyda iyo tan muslim kaba ha asturi and all of us forgive us and show us the right path.

i dont know if you familiar with sheikh mahamed alghazali, one late night while going to mosque, he saw neighbour's youth, drunk. the kid knew the famous scholar. the sheikh acted he never saw him.

couple days, the kid came to sheikh ashamed and surprised the sheikh didnt tell. the sheikh reply, son, you and are sinners in different things. how about you help me and help you to do towbah! it effected the kid and kid was very successful young man.

so shaming, does no good other than , making ,the one shaming feel fake superior.

i may not agree all above but God knows better what heart that person has. ino ika qalbi fi'an yahay ba laka yaba.

very nice story, however hyper if this was my sister or my brother or close cousin my instincts tell me to say something. I couldn't keep quiet. I would tell them that I am dissapointed in them. I hope they would understand that. But I would do it in private not in public because we ask Allah to keep our sins private in yaum al qiyaamah so we should do the same for others.

To each his own. I think people who try and force people to change usually do it because of guilty they feel from the sin they are committing.

Example; Advo

GG, damn it's hard because I feel saddened for them my own flesh and blood. I dunno if they don't want to listen then I will just distance myself from them and pray for them to get guidance.

I agree with Cumar Labasuul. If its not My family who cares? What I don't understand about Somalis is We think We're somehow better or more holy than others When We're no better than anybody else. We have homosexuals, child molesters, rapists, hoes, sluts, criminals, You name it, We have it. I don't have some special connection to Somalia that I feel that any other Somali has something to do with Me. If anything I really respect the Somali girls who are upfront with these views You mentioend, instead of hiding it, acting all miskiin to get hitched or something and then show their true colors to the horror of the miskin suckka who married her.
