know your history. did you know Somali colonized Maldives?
I discovered that we aint just the stupid people we are led to believe we are. The islands of Maldives was once briefly a Somali ruled territory. Read this paragraph below
Since the 12th century AD there were also influences from Arabia in the language and culture of the Maldives because of the conversion to Islam and its location as a crossroads in the central Indian Ocean. This was due to the long trading history between the far east and the middle east. Somali travelers discovered the island for gold in the 13th century, before the Portuguese. Their brief stay later ended in a bloody conflict known by the Somalis as "Dagaal Diig Badaaney" in 1424.

Re: know your history. did you know Somali colonized Maldive
I was reading Maldives history the other day, and one of its early dynasties was called the Aaditta (Sun) and suddenly it sounded somehow kinda similar to the Somali word of cadceed!!!
Anyway, many people ruled those islands and indeed there was a time that a Somali held a high position in the ruling regime.
Maldives looks just wow, I hope one day I will visit it.

Dagaal dhiig badaneey is as its translated from the English word or the Maldivian sentence. Its a funny sentence but the moral of the story is not about the name, its about the history of Somalia and how our forefathers were way ahead of us. They discovered gold in the Maldives and stuck there for a few years until people of the Maldives fought the Somali and drove them away from their islands. It was also brought to my attention lately that the Mogadishu district of Abdulaziz- its name was deriven from the ruler of Kinolhas who was a Maldivian. There was a history between the two countries for sure but how far it dates is another questions. Also its not known whether we established a fully fledged governance system in the Maldives- it was mostly looting their gold really

The Maldives, like a few other island countries, are set to disappear by 2050 due to rising sea levels. They are only a meter above sea level. Their government is currently looking for land to purchase from other countries to re-locate their whole populace
Maybe Somalia can allow them to relocate

We can give them that little island above Somalia that is now ruled by Yemen but should be ruled by Somalia. The far tip of Somalia has got a major island and its inhabited by Yemani Soldiers- none of the previous Somali governments have ever tried to pursue the ownership of the island. Eriteria has kicked Yeman's ass from several islands, perhaps one day we will get it back before 2050 and relocate all the Maldives to that Island
