Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
osob, thats extraordinary, and it tells the reality. The people are resilient and have had to endure the worst violence in the country. Do you think that I am contesting that? This thread was simply the reflections of my brother, who unlike you was in the middle teens when he was last in mogadishu. So unlike you he has seen xamar in it's hay day as the jewel of africa. Then he went back to it as it is now. You on the other hand first saw xamar in it's very worst, and as it is now. So you two will have very different perspectives. It's sad that you didn't get to see how xamar use to be. But at the same time you can work towards a new xamar that doesn't live in it's shadow as the older generation do.
The reason people use to call it Xamar cadaaye is not their anymore, it's xamar gubtay. Drought, poverty, war, famine, disease has ravaged xamar cadaye, and it will be a while before it gets it's name back
p.s. dhegobadan is biyomaal, and not my uncle. He is closer to my brothers who are dir.

Perfect
Your brother had the luxury to see Xamar the way it was because he is related to you. I would have been born in Xamar cadaaye had not the regime make my parents stateless by revoking their citizenship and refusing them entry. Yet I have moved on and so have my family. Your brother is a hypocrite because during that time he is enjoying Xamar, others were being abused and up rooted. Despite all the War the city is still Xamar Cadaaye and the so called Bantu and Abgaal we still love it and cherish it.
Abdiwahabow Al Shabab does not care if someone is naag or not plus you were a private citizen and could blend in, when I came to Xamar after the election of Sharif I came in as a target because every one knew those people who came in to work at the airport and make your traveling life easier

Osob,
I can not wear a niqaab to hide my identity nor does the Aano qabiil apply to women. The one i always worried about was the Aano qabiil shid. That one can come from any corner.

Osob, abgaal is enjoying xamar now not back then? are you serious? If it's your personal family I can understand but not the xamar or abgaal is better off now then before. Anyway, truth be told, his father was a legal expert, and is well known in xamar. People come to him asking about how somali civil law. His nephew, and my bro's cousin who grew up with them is in xamar now because he was invited for the garsoor conference. They didn't even support alshabab, and had close ties to usc, and their cousin even advised aideed on releasing the captured american from blackhawk down. Things are not so black and white markaas. He enjoyed xamar not because of me, but because xamar was 100x better than now.

Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
Your brothers point of view of Xamar could be biased.
Xamar dadka kunool ama dadka rabo ineey kunoodan ilahey haku nimceeyo but as far as I'm concerned it doesn''t exist. I don't plan on visiting, living there or anything else for that matter. Somali walba his little corner of Somalia hadhisto, I'm a strong beliefer in that.

Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
i have family in kismaayo and xamar.
my ayeeyos own a hotel and it got invaded by some habir gedirs. idk whether they got it back.
my distant habaryar spoke to her sister in kismaayo when al shabab had kismaayo. my habaryar said that she said if u keep your head down and not break any laws then you're ok. and apparently when the adhaan for salah went, the streets become quiet.
btw i heard that apparently there was a reer koshin road in xamar b4 the war
is that true? is it there?

Osob benta iska jooji oo ilahey kacabso,
Are you serious when you say MSB made you folks stateless? Xamar is not even Abgaals traditional home. Its like Kikuyus today that have swammed Nairobi. Abgaal came to Xamar when opportunity presented itself you cannot lie about this.
Also Abgaal did not form any rebel groups infact USC was HG made and its HG who fought in its name till they reached the gates of Xamar only to be joined by Abgaal who sort to exploit the situation. So I can still recall how he made your family stateless was your family exiled? Refused citizenship? Come one even Somali Bantus were given citizenship.
There is also no reported incident where Abgaal familes seeked asylum in Neighbouring countries or abroad. This stories are just a concotion to look for excuses to justify the occupation of civilian properties. You cant say you folks were marginalised while you chose Cali Mahdi your leader during the era of USC everyone knows he was one of the beneficiaries of MSB regime.

Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
Everyone and their mama knows that the former Regime in Somalia revoked passports and refused their renewal at all Somali embassies to all those who were suspected to be supporting any of the rebel groups. As for your rant about Abgaal and Xamar, no point in addressing it.

Mesha Xamar waxa kasocdho cashir layirahdho play the victim card.
Xita beenta kama xishonayan. Osob claimming that their passports were confisicated for being suspected? War maslax Siyad Bare used to sell weapons to Abgaal showing his fear for them was zero and he just wanted to make $$$ out of them.
Dadkan oo kalay ba madaxeyen sheganayo oo umadi hagayo oo wexey modaan in dadku indha laan yihin.
Xassan opened a conference about Justice advocacy. Its mere cheap talk what is needed is action and I doubt they would as they kicked out the same govonor who was trying to recover govt properties from squatters.

Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
@first post: what a rave
- don't take his words as absolute truth... besides, why is he blaming the city if he can't afford air-conditioned homes/cars? Blaming ppl for dark complexion (priceless) lol
I'd give this report D, or C- on a bad day...

Hamar is the capital city of murder and death! Why woud your brother go there to begin with? He should make takbiir and pray sunnah to thank god for bringing him back in one piece.
