Al Shabab kill and burn body of SYL member and son

Al-Shabaab militants reportedly killed and burnt the body of Ahmed Gure, a retired Somali politician who took part in the country's struggle for independence in 1945, Somalia's RBC Radio reported Tuesday (May 7th).

Gure, 95, and his grandson Mahad Gure, 28, were killed late on Sunday at their home in Buulo Sheekh village, 35 kilometres from Qoryooley in Lower Shabelle, according to family members. They were buried on Monday.

Al-Shabaab did not comment publicly on the incident and the motivation for the killings was unclear.

Gure was a member of the freedom movement Somali Youth League party and the first consular at the Somali embassy in Germany from 1961 to 1964. He was a parliamentarian from 1964 to1969, and has been out of politics since 1976.

The SYL or any words of that nature are probably not in the vocab of those animals. To them, you either pro Shabaab or Kaafir and on the Shabaab religious scale, 90% of Somalis fall into the latter category.
