Life with little to no social networks

Post by Ladyyonelove »

Asaalaama alaikyum to you all & ramadan kariim :D

So I just wanted to vent a little since I basically have no life and friends to tell this to lool no really I do but I just prefer the feed backs of strangers since they do not tell you what you want to hear most of the time; anywho as some of you old folks may know I have been away from somalinet and I would just like to say that somalinet has not been the only social network i have been away from :stylin:

Oh yeah thats right, I have minimized my ties on all social networks except twitter lol but seriously alhamdullah my life has fully advanced in every aspect. In sha allah I plan to go back to the good old days where online socializing was not the "norm". I loved being on the low not having to check my phone every second of the day.

Honestly I use to wake up check my phone, use the bathroom check my phone, do my hair check my phone. I was constantly addicted to being on my phone and just being on social networks hell even after salat before I say my dua I would check my phone. wallahi it was not healthy. I was slacking going into work late, always making excuses to do my homework 10 minutes later which would turn out to 4 hours later YES I AM A PROCRASTINATOR lol

But let me tell you now alhamdullah ya rab everything that needs to get done gets done on time, I am fully aware of my surroundings, hell I am doing wonderful in nursing school & the more patience I have now gets me to get me all that I could ever ask for & more!

So I really do not know where this post is going but just thought I'd share how this change was just for the better lol In sha allah may you all share how social network interactions changed you whether for the good or the bad or anything you'd like really :rose:

I don't have facebook, twitter or any of that crap, I don't socialize online. The only reason I come to Snet is to laugh at retards, and I must tell you, people in Snet never disappoint me.

Mashallah good for you sis, I hope you do well on your Nursing course.

As technology advances it becomes more easily accessible and widespread, some people will benefit from this and utilize it for their own progress whiles others will do the exact opposite, for the latter group it will be like a drug that they constantly need to make them forget about their troubles or responsibilities.

Stopped using fb a couple of years ago, and even then I pretty much only used private groups with my different sets of friends. Honestly, I laugh at grown ass people who in 2013 are still addicted to Facebook, twitter etc.

Its just teen life abaayo. We used to be addicted to Soccer when we were teens. I could skip Salatul Maqrib to watch a soccer match or Would hold on not going to pee in order not to miss the game. I got into fights over Some Soccer team in England while I was in Nairobi and almost had my nose broken cause I slapt someone who was mean to Ngwowo Kanu.

We have been through all and done it all. Atleast you are only addicted to your phone and do not get into physical with people for addiction.

Life without social networks would be fun and joyful as it used to be where the closest thing you get to technology was Tv .

You all make such great points :D

& I must agree it is a age thing where you are drawn to it one point in your life whether it be social networks sports etc

Laakin there's some sort of serenity that comes with beating a habit lol
& some odd reason I kind of do miss it lol
Now call me crazy but I've taken my whole non social network thing a bit too serious

Just recently I've deleted all of evidence of my photos on any social network that I know of and man oh man did it make it me feel just so wonderful lol
Hope you all are doing well and that the last 10 days are going great for you make dua for me while your at it ;)

Good for you. Personally, the idea of providing/sharing my personal infos bothers me. I like to stay in low profile. That's why FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc never clicked with me. The closest thing to socialnetworking that I do is Snet. I think people would eventually outgrow socialnetworking as a trend that was popular in the early 2000s, just as they've outgrown past trends.

This sounds like an infomercial that's too good to be true.

I don't bother with social networking. There's way too much drama on facebook. I would delete it if it weren't my only connection with relatives in Somalia. But it doesn't matter whether it's the Internet, Nintendo DS, PS3, or whatever. I have an addictive personality. If something is enjoyable, I can't keep myself from overindulging. It's a weakness that has caused a lot of trouble for me. Similarly, I rarely do things that I should if they're not enjoyable. I abhor hedonism but I'm a hedonist myself. :(
