Not true. You only want to discredit Adal because Hawiye played very little role.
The Adal Sultanate or the Kingdom of Adal (Somali: Saldaanada Cadal, Ge'ez: አዳል ʾAdāl, Arabic: سلطنة عدل‎) (c. 1415 - 1577[2]) was a medieval multi-ethnic Muslim state located in the Horn of Africa. At its height, the polity controlled large parts of modern day Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Eritrea.
Ahmed Gurey conquered 75% of Ethiopia. The Highlanders seek refuge in the mountainous region. Ahmed Gurey and his successors controlled much of these lands for more than 100 years. Even though disintegrated, the Highlanders only truly pushed back in the late 18th century with Menelik with the help of European powers including Britain.
Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi (Somali: Axmad bin Ibrahim al-Ghazi, Arabic: أحمد بن إبراهيم الغازي‎ ) "the Conqueror"[1] (c. 1507 – February 21, 1543[2]) was an Imam and General of Adal who invaded Ethiopia and defeated several Ethiopian emperors.[2] With the help of an army mainly composed of Somalis,[3] Imam Ahmad (nicknamed Gurey in Somali and Gragn in Amharic (ግራኝ Graññ), both meaning "the left-handed"), embarked on a conquest which brought three-quarters of Ethiopia under the power of the Muslim Sultanate of Adal during the Ethiopian-Adal War from 1529-43

Three quarters are not quit truthful, do you know what it Means, 3 quartes of ethiopia, under there hand. its because they added, the lands solomonic dynesty controlled before the fall, but adal empire was never interested in to secure the borders, and the solomonic empire was also highlanders, when they got invaded they just went up more highlanders in the Mountains.

those 2 regions had many wars, before and after the fall of the solomonic empire, and then the oromo expansions started because they wanted to take the chance because both solomonic and adal was weak, because they went all out on each other.

while gurey was busy killing the highlanders the oromos was already in the move, and was grabbing lands. so technically he never managed to controll it full.

and Again the invasion was 10 years full and 4 years of wars.

It has nothing to do with hawiyes role, am great admire of adal empire. and here is the true map of adal empire.

before the invasion
