Kaafi Academy Opens its Doors to a Generation of Young, Ambitious Somalis

One such project is the new Kaafi Academy, which is due to open its door to the very first intake of students in September 2013. The school has been
developed by a group of Somali investors currently residing in the UK, who sought to address the need for a school which will provide first class education
for the children of those families returning to Somalia as well as local children who may one day go on to be future leaders of their country.

The school is situated on a brand new, purpose built, modern campus in Mohamed Mooge district, Hargeisa. The campus includes spacious classrooms including
fully equipped science labs and ICT suites, a sports complex, recreation and play areas carefully designed to be safe and stimulating. There is also a well-stocked
library and conference rooms.

Kaafi Academy is a fee paying school with an international focus. The core subjects will be taught in English and will follow the British national curriculum. Other
subjects such as Somali, Arabic, religious and social studies will follow the local curriculum to ensure a balance of academic and cultural teaching. A number of scholarships will be available to talented local children whose families do not have the means to pay.

Another Qurbo joog project who herd that 'education' was easy and lucrative business. Since north Somalia has no regulation any Farah can paint his regular 2 story house pink, purple or the colours of Italy and say "International Milan Education"....and start taking in naive kids only to be scammed.

I know this system well and how it works. They count heads and each kid represents $10-$30 per month income for the Qurbo Joog Farah "investor". On top of that they import a cheap 27 seater mini bus and charge $5 per month for "travel fees".

All in all, they try to get 500-1000 students squeezed in there and the bus makes several trips back and forth.

Then finally they hire some reer Xamari kid who barely speaks English as the English Dean.

Hargeisa and north Somalia in general has only four businesses; NGO (every xalimo has NGO), Telecom (always busy), Xawala (80% of the people depend on money from abroad) and private "schools" (hundreds in Hargeisa alone and often franchised like McDonalds good example is Calaami).

BTW Kafi is an impressive house (structure), I like it but not the colours. These days Cidagale got the most $$ per average. If you go to their hood, its quiet impressive...gone from bulaal to 3 story houses. The rest are all over the place. Cidagale

Sxb I support education and all meaningful development but 95% of the schools in SL region are not meeting the standards. They all have one objective and that's to make quick cash. Most of the education is delivered by reer Xamar who never set foot in proper education system.

I support education with regulation not just a nice building and the slogan sign on the front.

Private schools are in every corner.

I just visited their website and I found even the bus I was telling you about.



Get land, guri ka dhiis (if it doesn't work out you can lease)
Get reer Xamari teachers
Print few papers and stable it together and call it "Jini Academy"
Bus so iibi

$20 per student per month
$5 per student per month for travel

$25x500 students = $12,500 income...$2000 put it back into "school".

Lucrative business. That's how it works no one cares about education its business.

I Agree, also we need to diversify the curriculum, they all teach same stuff, i propose teaching ulternative studies, like Ballet,Film Studies,etc
