jasmine to correct my self, about male circumassion, they use this aayah about ibrahim as. cause as we learned in same hadeths he circumcised him self at age of 80. that is why they say male circumcision has no age limit.

but still, imam malik, hanafia and hassan albasri, went to male circumcision;is sunnah and not wajib just like female circumcision.

It ought to be abundantly clear, that:
i) Islamic Law prohibits Clitoridectomy, Excision, Infibulation and other harmful female genital surgical procedures;
ii) Islamic Law permits – by definition, by Prophetic Statement and by practice – female circumcision. The definition under Islamic Law for female circumcision is exclusively the removal of the uppermost extra skin at the top of the clitoral glans.
Some statements of the most authoritative Scholars will also help to understand and reinforce these two points of clarity that must not be confused:
i) Imam Nawawi said (commenting on the Abu Hurairah Hadīth stated earlier), “Circumcision is obligatory according to al- Shafi`i and many of the scholars, recommended by Sunnah according to Malik and the majority of them. It is further, according to Shafi`i, as regards to males it is obligatory to cut off the whole prepuce or skin which covers the glans or head of the penis, so that the latter is wholly denudated. The sound view in our school (Shafi`i), which is shared by the large majority of our companions, is that circumcision is allowed in a youthful age but not obligatory.”
ii) Shaykh Nuh Keller’s Translation of al-Misri’s “Reliance of the Traveller” (Shafi`i school) p. 59: “Circumcision is obligatory (Sh. `Umar Barakat: for both men and women). For men it consists of removing the prepuce from the penis, and for women, removing the prepuce of the clitoris (Keller: not the clitoris itself, as some mistakenly assert). (Sh. `Abd al-Wakil Durubi: Hanbalis hold that circumcision of women is not obligatory but recommended by Sunnah, while Hanafis consider it a mere courtesy to the husband.”
iii) It is not obligatory for women either in the Maliki school or in the Hanbali school. Both schools consider it merely recommended. See Al-Qayrawani’s “Risala” p. 161, 305; and “al- Mughni” 1:85. Ibn al-`Arabi al-Maliki says in “Tuhfat al- ahwadhi” (1:167): Khafđ for the woman is like khitan for the man and consists in removing a piece of skin the size of a rooster’s crest in the uppermost region of the genitals.

The article Fah posted says that the haddith is not weak, it says that female circumcision is a choice and one that should be made by an adult female before or after she gets married. He called it labiaplasty, if you google you will see what it is. The thing about that is that not every female needs it so I guess it's a good thing he didn't go as far as to say it's compulsory.

lol jasmine, still alqaradawi and other salafis, made the hadeeth as not clear about female and not authenticated and many changed their minds cause of the wrong doing of the operation. i just checked, in our law. in qatar is illegal in la tabtaba meshas for female. not even doctors.

Do you know where this culture has its roots in ? . FGM is illegal morally and religiously .
