Those foreign companies are actually for the most part owned by European entrepreneurs based in Nairobi. Their entry into the Mogadishu market was facilitated by a new foreign investment law, which the federal cabinet recently passed to speed up the reconstruction process. So the Kenyans are manual laborers (in construction mainly), like most of their Bantu brothers in Somalia. They are in Xamar temporarily, for the length of their employers' work contract.

Xamar is coming back to life. Once things reach a certain level of stability, more Faaraxs and Xaliimos will begin to return and the city's demographics will start normalizing at a more rapid pace, Insha'Allah.

The first commercial bank was re-opened some time ago:

The second annual TEDx conference was also held in the city this summer:

Sure, Xamar is a shadow of its former self. And we're certainly a long way from when this guy's brother was the Governor of Mogadishu:

But at least there's some development happening again, Masha'Allah.

In the westeren, constraction workers are rich and its a top job, in Somalia its an insult and they call it Fuundi, and to be a fuundi aka constraction worker is an insult, so since skinnies in mogaishu feel an insult t be fuundi, UN in 90,s till now they hire from local jareer and overseas contractors to do the job

Bantu Kenyans are good, hardworking people. Its the Somali Kenyans that need to be banned from Somalia because they are the 5th column snitches working for the Kenyan government.

We are in Kenya too...But I think it is fair to hire Somalis for the jobs and Somalis need to learn how to be a hardworking humanbeings..All the money that is pledged to the Somalis does not fall into Somali hands...

I love the Deyniile Tropical Village owner, I watched his workers, they are all Somalis....I think it is not fair to hire from outside when the residents are unemployed...

And why can't they give all the deals they are talking about to Dahabshiil and Companies like him??? They can do investments and at the end of the day they are Somalis....
