WE have to take into account he could be mentally ill. Most hyper educated people, especially in the field of math and extreme complicated subject like physics or engineering, can easily be prone to mental break down, or have inherent mental disorder that drive them to these fields in the first place.

Most homeless people do have mental problems, but I don't know which one come first. You know a person doesn't just become homeless because of lack of job. He burned down a lot of bridges and made a lot of financial mistakes, and most of them are not up front.

I do agree that the length period of being homeless says a lot. But being mentally ill doesn't take much work these days. The death of a loved one, divorce, losing a job, or even having a medical condition could trigger people to abuse drugs and alcohol. The problem multiples for some people.

on the bright side as he said he had work for x amount of years, so all in all waxba wax uun weey dhantaa. it would have been worse finishing 2 masters degree and then find yourself unemployed for x amount of years.

I have known many educated elders with amazing qualification that had mental break downs. Some became alcoholics and whatnot.
