Why did Siad Barre retreat?

Jalle siyad maybe overestimated his allies. Still though when it was 1 on 1 we won.

Perhaps he could defeat Ethiopia 1-1 but when the Cuban army and the soviet advisers appeared on the battlefield, he knew that defeat was sure.

Somalis are no match for cubans and russians.

Well,let me remember somenthing:

Ethiopia defeated Ahmed Gurey in 1543

Ethiopia( with cuban and soviet support) defeated Somalia in 1978.

I think Ethiopian army is stronger than Somali Army.

Of course the Cuban army defeated Somali Army in Ogaden War,nobody can deny that Cubans defeated Somalia in 1978.

Ahmed gurey defeated ethiopian kings at that time. Infact they called the portugese to help them.

But at the end of the day,Portugal and Ethiopia defeated Somalia.

Siad Barre understimated Cuban and russians, he though that a victory against these powerful allies of Ethiopia would be easy,he made a huge mistake and Cubans and russians defeated his army and destroyed Greater Somalia dream.
