Managing Your Private & Public Life
As I'm preparing myself to enter the world of work, I've researched a few tips on how to manage my private and public life. Is this what happens as you get older? I find myself being more accountable and assertive. I like working for what I want. It's empowering.
So, what are some things ya'll do to manage such different spheres of your life? Well, for me, I've protected my tweets. I'm like obsessed with googling myself and seeing what comes up. Alhamdulilah, it's nothing bad. But still, I do it often. I mean, my Facebook is relatively personal. I post exciting news, revelations and what I'm currently doing and I express a lot of gratitude on there.
I've learned how to keep a healthy distance from people. I offer support and advice, but I avoid making value statements. I'm more inclined to keep to myself. I try to spend quality time with my closest friends. I have boundaries. People have boundaries. I respect people, and that respect is reciprocated.
Alhamdulilah, my personal life aligns pretty well with my professional life because my personal life is what my future profession will be personified by.
My question to you all of you working professionals, what are some ways you circumvent having to deal with potential blurred lines?

Don't bring clients to your house, take them to a motel? Is that what you are saying?- Vivacious

Stay as secretive as you can about your home life if you socialize a lot with people.

Re: Managing Your Private & Public Life
My values are abundantly clear anywhere I go.
This is making me think a lot but I don't see a problem in that.
I just Googled myself. You won't find a single thing about me but there are so many other people with the same name as me, who are so exposed. I hope no one thinks that's me.
It's hard to stay distant from co-workers though, I could only keep it up for so long. That's really something I need to work on.

I think you have good values! Now, that I'm a little older, I can appreciate the good upbringing I had.CushiticReflections wrote:My values are abundantly clear anywhere I go.This is making me think a lot but I don't see a problem in that.

It's hard to find balance between good exposure through social media and maintaining a professional image. I think I've been googled often because my name along with my location shows up in the search bar. Not going to lie, being accessible on social media (i.e. digital story telling, LinkedIn) has opened a lot of opportunities for me. This is where the future job market is headed.

There isn't much to talk about in my private life. I'm not dating anyone. I'm not involved in any scandals. There are no discrepancies between who I am and who I say am. Alhamdulilah.AgentOfChaos wrote:First rule of private life is don't talk about private life.

You said you had Skype with some stranger dude yesterday and you did the above. Was it really a banana?SavySallySupersedes wrote: I showed him how far I could shove a banana down my throat.

1. No one knows who I really am on here besides my guy.
2. I allow myself to express bottled up tension here.
3. I find so much enchantment in people believing in this Sally figure who's simply a figment of my raunchy imagination.
