That was already discussed under loyalty. But thank you for your contribution.
Which reminds me....

There is no winning with Somalis.

Somalia value respect for patents.

Two important words: baari and caasi. They have no English equivalent. They are adjectives to describe respectful and considerate behaviour towards parents (baari) and the lack thereof (caasi). Being called caasi is an insult

Somalis see themselves as above and beyond everyone else, even if it's not true. Also they equally distribute dislike for every other race and do not favour between them.

This feels so narcissistic

Somalis don't like to brag. There are several old proverbs that warn against this. So this thread although honest feels unnatural

Af Somaligeyga sidu u ficanyahay maka hesheen. :wow:

Thank you SNet

Which brings me to my first point:

Somalis are loyal, to their culture, their people and their friends. This is why qabiil is such a big thing, you are loyal to your family blood ties.

1. I couldnt get through your somali bit....sorry

2. To the point that you say somalis' are loyal....I think (some) Somalis' are habitually hypocritical. Some will come to your aid and then have the gaul to gossip about it with other people. Thats one of my biggest issue with (older) somali women. Ive seen it first hand.
They are willing to both tear eachother down and help eachother.......I just cant get behind that kind of whip-lash behaviour.
Id prefer to know who my enemy and who my friend is rather than play masquerade

Edit: Nalia (that colour just makes me think of West)

you are killing me walaaley

Af Somaali si dag dag ah ku soo baro, please

Regarding talking about the person, what do you think it means when we say we're an oral community? I don't think you can call it gossiping in a Somali context, talking comes with the territory, it's not seen as a bad thing. It's how we've kept our history and culture alive through the centuries. Lying kills your credibility but as long as what you're saying is factually accurate, your news is welcome

That's negative.
That's one way to look at it, Somalis stare so hard they can be an eye witness to anything within a 20 mile radius :Heh:

What does bajaq mean? sounds nasty

Hydro,
A little bit of starring no one cares lakiin the person should immediately look away if he/she is caught in the act  that responsive mechanism isn't working properly in the average sized somali brain.
