The Somali Federal Government is committed to increasing the annual Budget, His Excellency Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon said today after Cabinet unanimously endorsed the Budget for 2014.
The 2014 Budget is more than double that of 2013 rising from $114.3 million in 2013 to $221 million next year. Only 11 months ago the government used to raise just $2.2 million in tax income, the total raised through local taxes has increased to $130m in next year’s Budget. The remaining $91m comes through donor projects on health, education, infrastructure and economic development.
The Budget will now go forward to be approved by Parliament.
The Prime Minister, said: “Cabinet has today endorsed the Budget for 2014, which sees a significant increase in the total budget. All of Somalia will benefit from increased government spending on security, justice, education and health.
“The Government of Somalia is committed to the continuing reform of our financial institutions and tax systems to increase the income of the state. The Ministry of Finance have proposed a number of reforms to land taxes to ensure businesses are contributing their fair share to society and the rebuilding of our country.
“The future prosperity of Somalia is directly linked to peace and stability and we must continue to work to create an environment which is attractive to investors and businesses which will benefit all Somali people.”

The government though not having a complete capability reaching out to certain regions in Somalia provides its monthly wages to its forces throughout regions in Somalia that Somali government forces are present in such as Gedo, Hiiraan, Bay and Bakool.AbdiJohnson wrote:How much of that money will reach beyond Banaadir?

It also provides free immunisation in those regions and other healthcare needs such as delivering medicines to its forces and the public.
Here is an example of their monthly wage to its forces, these particular forces are located in Garbaharey of Gedo region:

Rome wasn't built in one day. Somalia has been without a functioning government for awhile. Any progress is important, and its wise to know the circumstance of Somalia in general. So don't expect the permanent government to have full capabilities within just a year in office.

In your dreams Bantu boy. Not all of the budget comes from the tax. Besides Mogadishu is the capital of Somalia and where all Somalis invest in it. The only city that the previous government spend it's majority of development in. Whatever tax comes from Mogadishu will have to go back to the country. Likewise once tax are collected from other towns in Somalia it will be shared too under the budget of Somalia.Twisted_Logic wrote:Money is collected from Mogadishu so it stay in Mogadishu. You are Marehan. I don't think you should be calling anyone Bantu. And no you don't get to decide the money. I do. You keep running around SNET with Xamar neighborhoods & satisfy your ego. That's all you will ever amount to.BuuloXubeey wrote:In your dreams Bantu boy. Not all of the budget comes from the tax. Your an Abgaal, you herd donkeys and look like Bantus. A a former slave for the Italians. Mogadishu does not belong to you and I can live there and 'run' around with it if I want. If Abgaal are something in Xamar, go kick out the elite Marehan settlers and businessmen over there. Or go kick out the other clans that reside there.
Just cause the president of Somalia is a Bantu Abgaal does not that mean you guys can't decide where the money goes. The government is 4.5 not Abgaal. You wish to own the government but you need balls to control a government, I guess Abgaal don't have that. You son of a Bantu.
