lending money to relatives
Sometimes they tend to prolong the matter because you are family. I understand there a certain etiquettes one has to abide by with regards to relatives, however it is not a good look to prolong the matter unnecessarily. I am baasto " can you wire me de monies",adeer Desmond tutu owes me de monies for two years.

I lend money but I won't go after them. Sometimes I will forgive the debt just so I can no longer have any expectations but no more than two times. The third time I tell them I have no money.

Immediate family, yes. Outside the family i wouldnt lend...give what i can but not expect anything in return.
I wouldnt borrow or lend money to friends either. It kills friendships.

Abdi, the worst culprits are those who try prolong the matter so that you forget about the debt. In other words, they abuse your xishood of not asking them in the first few weeks, months,to avoid any mention of the issues. They act like you never lent them a penny. I am baasto " don't let people take liberties wid your monies" unit. In afrika dat could get you killed, desmond.

If its less than $250, I easily shrug it off. Never let a small amount of money control your emotionsBaastoUnit wrote:Abdi, the worst culprits are those who try prolong the matter so that you forget about the debt. Who the hell lends money to family?
If they are in trouble or they ask for money you GIVE them the money. They would do the same for you if your were in their predicament.

Lacagta barako maleh markaad dul taagantahay dadkuna ku cariirinaysid, if you are helping out family it is a big sadaqah and many will say it's waajib to give a helping hand if they are close kin. Give what you can without a second thought inadeer. I'm sure they would help you out when times are hard too.
