How lax are you when it comes to personalities?

If you know someone with qualities that you find annoying, reprehensible even, how lenient are you with them?

As you grow older do you discriminate more in that once you notice those qualities you keep them at an arms length or have you become more easy going and learnt how to get on with all types of people?

Okay say someone is trying to be friends with you but you notice a characteristic(s) that you really can't be bothered with, would you;

1. Try and be okay with it, cut them some slack
2. Talk to them about it, communication is the way to real friendship
3. Avoid them or blank them they'll eventually get the hint, you're too old for this ish and don't need new friends especially not annoying ones
4. Tell them to get lost, honesty is the best policy

I would go with option 1, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and hope that they change the trait that comes across annoying. If they don't change i don't talk to them about the problem with them instead, i tend to avoid them altogether as best as i can (damn that makes me horrible person but CBF to tell a grown ass man/woman to fix up)
