The traditional islamic system used rote learning for memorizing the Quran as a form of mental exercise and conditioning.
Think of quran memorization as a mental and spiritual training like what you do for your body in aerobics and weight lifting.
The rest of the education was very unstructured and consisted of discussion and encouragement of arguments.

Surprisingly the first introduction of a curriculum and standard subjects to be taught started with the universities created by Nizam ul mulk the Seljuk wazir. This was intended to mass produce a large number of sunni ulema that could take on the formidable Ismacili Shiica daacis or missionaries that were causing mass conversion to shiicism all over the lands.

Most Finns like the Scandinavians are atheists and agnostics which explains their successful society. You can only have world class education systems and have great societies if you reject things that pollute the mind. Helsinki, Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm are model cities in model countries.

My dream was for Somalia to be like Scandinavia: clean, progressive, rich, peaceful.

It makes me sad knowing it'll never happen. I can't defeat the barbarians on my own

Ill consider sacrificing my life though to change that place. The hopelessness and poverty and misery is getting embarrassing

mrdegdeg, its the most advanced.

Liquid,

Ive never accepted that term. I don't hate myself. I hate what I'm perceived to be. I hate the perception. I hate having to be lumped with barbarians just because of my cultural heritage. To be treated as alike without regard for particulars.

But hate myself? Absolutely not. I am actually a narcissist. I am egotistical. I am conceited

You can argue semantics all night. The truth is you hate 'yourself'. You hate your ethnicity, your culture and your religion. That is the definition of self-hate. Now I don't pull any punches when it comes to my opinions on the current state of somalis. But I don't fool myself into believing it is because I am, or rather my people are, inferior.

Absolutely not. I go out of my way to eat Somali food when I'm out. My only friends are Somali. I follow all things Somali. I plan on moving back to Somalia while hundreds of thousands of other Somalis in the diaspora will not. I'm Somali

I don't like some things of Somali culture like piracy, terrorism, religious extremism, revenge clan killings that target innocent people, unprofessionalism, corruption, etc. I dont like the rainbow plastic chairs and the rainbow colored walls in parliamentary and serious settings. I can go on and on

I find 99% of them to be retarded and useless incapable of performing even the simplest of tasks. But I don't hate my people. I find it very offensive
