I remember when dogs were used as a weapon against somalis because we used to bully cadaans and madows. One time when I was little, a kid I used to bully set a fully grown german shepherd on me. I ran like the wind all the way from the local park and jumped over a 2 meter wall just as the dog was going for my leg. I'm still proud of the fact I outran a dog at 11yrs old. Nowadays I wouldn't run but curbstomp that bitch.

It's always amusing seeing people's reactions to our cats. We usually have to lock the cat upstairs when we have guests. One guest actually ran out of the house when our cat wandered into the living room. Turned out she was terrified of them.
I don't think you guys here are terrified of cats just not used to them. Get a kitten.
