The journalists look like they're from the local media outfits; a) they get paid peanuts b) only way to make money is by getting a "dramatic" pic/vid that they can then shop on to international media.

As for the Fu-Fu askaris; why risk your life when you can save up a year's worth of salary and build "guri labo dabaq" in Kampala? Let the war continue; fat profits to be had for the war contractors/mercenaries, military brass, civilian leadership, Barlamaan bandits with their qatari bank accounts, everybody eats well.
