A 24-year-old man refused to provide a statement after being shot in each thigh in the ByWard Market early Sunday morning, Ottawa police said.

Shots were heard on George Street near Cumberland Avenue around 2:30 a.m., police said.

A man, found with two gunshot wounds, was taken to the hospital in serious condition, Ottawa paramedics said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the guns and gangs unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050.
