If the Italians called the southern part of the country Italian Somalia and the English called it Italian Somaliland would it not mean the Italians called the northern part of the country British Somalia or whatever the Italians refer to the British? I would think it is just like how some people call Spain Espana or Germany Alemania or Deutschland.

You couldn't be more wrong.... On the 26th June British Somaliland was granted independence from Great Britain which then formed the "State of Somaliland" which in four days time upon agreements with the UN trusteeship of Somalia agreed to unionise to create the Somali Republic on 1st July 1960. So you "Somalia" lot are really kinda stupid and ignorant to the facts. The reason for why the SFG is celebrating this publicly is political and I'm aim to discredit SL which is why the opted for a federal system and the creation of all these mini states within their country

Re: Happy Independence Day to Somalia & Djibouti
The legal name of the Italian colony was Somalia Italiana. The legal name of the British protectorate was British Somaliland.
The arguments of some of these people doesn't even make sense.
Why would the Italians use English terminology when naming their colonies at a time when they considered themselves equal to Great Britain in terms of colonial ambitions and European imperialism?
