East Coast of Puntland

Post by Dome »

Fellow Puntites, it has come to my attention that our great east coast is neglicted. Yes indeed there are settlements in the east coast but they are mainly small towns and villages: Bandarbeyla, Eyl, Xaafuun, Ashira, Hordio and Bargaal. We have our north coast on point, with Boss city, my hometown Qandala, Caluula, Bereeda and the small villages in between. But i think now we should turn to the direction the sun rises from. Obviously tourism is probable but i say people from the big four cities of our state should go and setup towns and cities along that coast or develop the already existing towns.

If i was to choose to live between the north or east coast no doubt i would go for the Indian ocean. Living on my mansion in Xaafuun or the surrounding areas, set sail for Qandala and Boss city one week and then Jubbas the next week. THE DAROOD LIFE :D . Indeed DAROOD along with our reer abtis DIR have been blessed by Allah Azzawajal as the only Somalis with two coasts. Suck on that Idors and Hutus 8-). But knowing Idors, to reply to the comment i've just made will start claiming Dir, who they always deny being ;) .I say we should reap the benefits of that blessing.

And while am on the subject of developing the state. What do you guys hope and wish to see Puntland and Jubbaland in the next 5-10 years? I can't help but think that that Jubbaland will grow and develop much faster then Puntland did.

I think growing towns like Garacad into fishing centers would probably attract a lot of people there. What we need is a structured transition away from nomadism and into fishing and urban living. For example, it is more efficient for us to have fewer nomads and more fisherman because we have maxed out the economic benefits of the nomadic lifestyle, while fishing has barely been tapped.

Urbanism will pose a huge problem because there aren't enough jobs, we need to bolster the fishing and agriculture sectors.

Eyl isn't neglected, not sure whether you've heard, but there is a road in the words which will connect it to Garowe so that fishermen can deliver their produce.
