No i don't think so, this is the most stupid thing so far, why lending more money to rich forks when they already have enough money to be rich.

I use to be very anti towards the Somaliland Oligarchs, Dahabshil and co. But on the ground they provide a far better support than the actual Somaliland government. The government cannot be trusted with the peoples money and the people dont trust them. However, companies like Dahabshil lend money to people already and have supported many businesses. They are far more efficient and reliable compared to the Somaliland government and if they get some money in the process so be it.

Give the man some credit for God's sake.

Dahabshiil has been lending money to people for sometime now. I personally know two guys who bought their council houses in London through loans from Dahabshiil.

Only problem is it charges higher interest than the mainstream banks in the UK. Basically you are better off borrowing from HSBC than Dahabshiil bank or any other so called Islamic banks. They always add a huge lump sum on the initial loan. For example you borrow $100,000 from them, you are required to pay 120,000 back in five years time.

Dadka wadankii joogaa, they have no choice other than borrowing from local banks such as Dahabshiil. But the diaspora folks who seek loans from Dahabshiil are mainly those who are unable to satisfy all the requirements from the mainstream banks in their respective countries.

I don't think they have the licence.
It is mainly informal. Their must be a credible guarantor in case you fail to pay back your loan.

there is already salama bank which was operating in the country since 2005 and have atm machine connected to european banks such as barclays, hsbc, and other via their djbouti operations. salama bank is owned by telesom which already has the monopoly on finance in the country through Zaad services. plus telesom also have xawaalada taaj.
