Knowthyself, women in Somalia have the same status as 'Midgans'. They are never allowed to be leaders. Their role is to cook and please their husbands and look after the children. It was only recently that they were allowed to drive there and that was only because the men didn't want to run errands for the family since they are too busy in khat spots.
Only 3 or 4 subclans out of hundreds of subclans can be President or PM and they have to be males. There's no luck for the other 95% of Somalis.
Somali women always were the backbone of Somali society... whether in the miyi where even the heavily pregnant xaliimo would build her family home with her bare hands or, in the city where she sells milk or drives her kids to school...
abdi J....that is very saddening. Somalia would be light years ahead if it were ruled by women. very unfortunate.
@present exactly. shame the men would never let it happen. shame indeed. theyve been too influenced by wahabism. somali men and women used to be equals in the past.
