What did you call it in Xamar? I guess Habar JInni, right?

I think the dictionary word is Maseey ruug i.e. the NFD version.
Riyo Nuug
the smaller one Qoroto
Qoroto , mulac/bulac are the small ones.

Riyo Nuug, Maseey ruug, mas xagalo (mas xagal leh), Habar jinni are some of the names.

No Xagal ; angel ; when it is moving it forms the shape of a right angel.

That is what I think but I could be wrong. In the NFD we call it Mas Xagalo or Maseey ruug,.

That one too saaxib.

Actually, Abeeso lugoleey, mas xagaleey, maseey ruug and riyo nuug are all the somali names.

Habar Jinni is a new entrant.

Daff,
What about the squirrel?

I am fascinated by the idea that this animal is called by different names;

Qodoow
Uun reeys
Daba gaale
Tukulush.

Qodoow is used in southern Ethiopia, the NFD, Gedo and some parts of Jubbooyinka.

Tukulush is only used in Banaadir and coastal cities.

Essence; ma ogi meeshaan ka keenay. I have seen ppl use that; I think it is the shape of its legs when it is moving; Xagal=angle

I could be wrong though. Meel libax soo galey lo' ma joogeeyso; so I guess you and LJ are right

But look it as Angle=xagal and you might undertand.

LOL@@@@@ Faranfar. I have not heard that words in ages.

Tukulush is a coastal city word; Banaadir, Marko all the way to Baraawe. Ask kids from Xamar.

Dabagaale (notice the long vowel to avoid anus penetrating)is the official one. I think Uun reeys is a foreign word. I use Qodoow myself.

LOL LJ, he wrote Dabogale.

I was correcting him. It should be Gaale.

I thought TAIL= Seen

I was also wrong; dabo could mean almost everything including the buttock ...

P.s. Gaale mean; pointing.
