I am from the same region you hail but fully disagreed with you. Most of effective empires came from the south, particularly, the Ajuuraan empire. As far as I know, that empire was the only empire in the Somali region that has developed naval forces and have made colonies in South Asia.

and the south is where all the outsiders have lived. the only regions of somalia that have stayed purely somali is the north and galbeed regions. and those regions are almost entirely nomadic with no permanent cities of any kind. hell even Harar was founded by Turkish missionaries. I learned this from a relative who recently came back from ethiopia.

Harar, one of the oldest cities in Africa and home to one of the oldest muslim communities on earth...was founded by Turks, who were not even in Africa before the 16th century.
