Actually Ethiopia shouldn't be on the list.

GDP: $55 billion
Population: 88-90 million

Per capita: $610-$625

Just consider this, five years ago Kenya had much bigger GDP than Ethiopia but today Kenya is lagging behind. Ethiopia is adding more millionaires to its economy than any other African nation but still the population remains poor so the Gov has to reform economic opportunities. I believe it will get there just like Singapore, China and Korea----which Ethiopia looks up to.

More than anything Ethiopia needs to heavily invest in technology and education. It has all the ingredients to be an international player and an African lion economy.

More than anything Ethiopia needs both open market and nurture entrepreneurial spirit. Then it will be hard to stop.

I personally open to join the political landscape of Ethiopia in the future even if I open my own private think tank.

Ethioia will always be poor because I m not seeing any change, everything is owned by the government, there is no market economy and the so called Ethiopian economic grown has started to cool down.

I see no future in Ethiopia until they open their market.

Ethiopia is landlocked and corrupt. All the wealth you see are only in hands of few wealthy men. Everyone else is poor. Start worrying if Ethiopia starts talking about merging with Djibouti.

Djibouti has sold its own soul out. No more will it be rich.

Kenya is Somalia's main competitor. It'll be easy to win though, Kenya's too dumb to tell the right from left.

average wages in Somaliland and Puntland are much higher than Ethiopia. Many NGOs confirmed this a long time ago. That's why you find many Oromo labourers there.

To be poor is archaic in a world that transcends the meaning of happiness. But to be poorest is something else.
