i welcome this as self determination is the inalienable right for all peoples and realities on the ground is the key towards forming a sovereign nation state

you'll see soon that kurdistan and (ex British) somaliland will gain official diplomatic recognition followed by somalia d' italiana disintegrate into half a dozen clan based mini countries

happy days :eat:

I don't endorse Kurdistans recognition, neither will the Turkish and other stakeholders. As Somalis who rely on Turkish foreign cooperation, investment and aid it's in our best interest to not endorse this too and yes Somaliland cooperates with Turkey too.

You can't compare SL and Kurdistan, which has many things happening for her. First and foremost it's ethnic empowerment and they want freedom from Arabs, Turks and Persians. They have lots of oil to buy allies and backers. They are historical rulers of not just Kurdistan but many parts of the Middle East.

They will play Turkish, Arab, Israeli and Persian rivalry to their advantage as the case already. They working with the Israelis whilr selling oil to the Turks.

The Israelis are interested in an independent Kurdistan for many reasons. First they need friends in the region and secondly they hope by creating Kurdistan republic at least Arabs will be too preoccupied with that and forget Israeli settlements.

SL has none of those factors on its side just poor event or temporary association with Britain.

Isaaqland had their chance and blew it they thought that isolating themselves will bring recognition. Instead of taking advantage of civil in xamar to capture the capital and make somali government then using that government to recognize their little state they just sat back and waited now is to late
